Merit, a simulated work environment for discovering talent through proof of work. Candidates join teams and operate inside a realistic simulated software, AI, or data company. - For candidates, Merit is a way to prove ability without relying entirely on a CV or interview. - For employers, the idea is simple: instead of evaluating someone through a few hours of interviews, you can discover and hire individuals or entire teams based on weeks of observed performance.

Hey Product Hunt — I’m the founder of Merit. We built Merit around a simple question: what if people could prove they can do the job by actually doing the work? Merit puts candidates into a simulated company for four weeks. They join a small team, get real-world assignments, work with an AI project manager, and ship software, data, ML, or go-to-market work. By the end, they have a track record of how they actually perform: what they shipped, how they collaborated, how they handled ambiguity, and how they improved over time. For candidates, it’s a way to build credible proof of work. For employers, it’s a way to discover talent from observed performance rather than just applications and interviews. We’re still early and learning a lot about how realistic the simulations should be, what signals are actually useful to employers, and how teams should be evaluated. I’d especially love feedback on one question: If you were hiring someone, what would you need to see from four weeks of simulated work before you trusted it as a hiring signal? Thanks for checking out Merit.

Who hunted Merit?

Merit was hunted by Sarah Cohen. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
