Mentas maps how raw materials physically move around the world: shipping routes, pipelines, and the maritime chokepoints they squeeze through — with live vessel positions and daily transit volumes. Underneath the map sits the analysis layer: CFTC positioning, press-sentiment scoring on 22 commodities, conviction scores and event-study backtests across 1,000+ instruments. Hey Hunters, I'm Fadi, and I built Mentas alone over the past year. It started from a frustration: every markets platform shows you the price of copper, but none of them shows you the ships carrying it, or the strait those ships have to pass through. Price is the output. I wanted the inputs. So Mentas maps the physical layer — shipping routes, pipelines, chokepoints, live vessel positions — and puts the usual analysis on top: CFTC positioning, sentiment scoring from a real-time news pipeline running on 22 commodities, conviction scores, event-study backtests. Two things I'd rather say myself than have you discover: - Vessel coverage comes from shore-based receivers, so some open-ocean areas and parts of the Persian Gulf show few or no ships. That's the data source, not a bug — the map labels those zones. Satellite coverage is the real fix and it's expensive. - The signals are context, not alpha. I ran the backtests and I'm not going to pretend they print money. Everything on the map and the asset pages is free and needs no account. I'd genuinely like to hear where the map is wrong or missing something — especially from anyone who works in shipping or physical commodities.

finally a map that actually shows the shipping routes instead of just dots on a globe, and the chokepoint view made me realize how much i take for granted
