I built MeditationLock because I noticed something strange: most screen-time blockers never solved the actual problem for me.
When I hit a blocker, I’d either wait it out, disable it, or delete the app entirely.
What actually helped was taking a short pause to check in with myself. Most of the time, I didn’t even want the app anymore. I was opening it out of habit.
There are already apps that add friction before opening social media. What I wanted was something simpler. No library of interventions, no endless settings, and no decisions to make in the moment. Just one consistent reset every time.
So I built MeditationLock. Instead of simply blocking apps, it asks you to take a 1 minute reset before opening them. The goal isn’t to eliminate social media. It’s to create a moment of awareness between the impulse and the action.
