This started because my NAS was full of files called The.Bear.S03E07.2160p.WEB.h265-ETHEL.mkv and my photo library was 40,000 files called IMG_4471.HEIC. Every tool I found solved exactly one of those problems, so I was running three tools and a Python script I kept breaking.
Media Renamer Pro does all of it in one app: TV, movies, photos, video, music, audiobooks and retro game ROMs. It reads the metadata inside the file, looks up real titles when that helps, shows you the entire rename plan before touching anything, and gives you a one-tap undo for the whole batch.
The part I am proudest of is that it runs on iPhone and iPad, not just Mac. As far as I can tell there was no real file renamer on iOS at all. That was the hardest part to build and it is the part I use most now, since I can fix the NAS from the couch.
Photo scene descriptions run on-device with Apple's Vision framework, so nothing leaves your machine. Local-Only Mode turns off every network call if you want it fully offline.
