I’m Anna, co-founder at Meander.
Over the past years, I've had hundreds of conversations with people who:
- felt that they were stuck
- thought that their efforts were underappreciated
- wanted to urgently develop a certain skill
- didn't understand how to get a promotion.
Surprisingly, when I asked how they knew it was a problem, most didn't have an answer; they simply _assumed_.
To be honest, I've made the same mistake myself, and more than once. I would sign up for a course thinking I had a skill gap, while in fact, I didn't - or the particular skill wasn't relevant to my goals. I'd feel frustrated about not growing in my role, not realizing I was actually making meaningful progress.
I found an easy way to fix this: to understand where you stand, to feel less like an impostor, and to identify your strengths. And it is – through asking your network to share their observations with you. Your past and current peers, managers, reports, and mentors can be an incredible source of insight and information, and it's surprising how many people miss this opportunity to learn about themselves.
