Most meal and nutrition apps focus on tracking. MealPlans.dev focuses on planning. Create daily and weekly meal plans, see calories, protein, sodium, potassium, carbs, and fat before you eat, and adjust your plan with confidence.
👋 Hi Product Hunt!
I'm Ezra, and I built MealPlans.dev because I wanted more consistency in my diet.
Over time, I realized that every food decision introduced a little more variability into my nutrition. Once I found a meal plan that worked for me, I didn't want to recreate it every day. I wanted a simple way to understand the nutritional impact of that plan, make adjustments when my goals changed, and then follow it consistently.
I wanted to know what I was eating before the day started so I could stop thinking about food and get on with the rest of my day.
That's ultimately what MealPlans.dev is designed to do.
Build a meal plan, see calories, protein, carbs, fat, sodium, and potassium immediately, make adjustments when your goals change, and reuse what works.
One of the ideas that influenced the product is:
Repetition is a feature, not a bug.
Most people don't eat completely different meals every day. I certainly don't. I have a meal plan that I repeat daily and only change when my goals change. For example, as I got closer to my goal weight, I increased my carbohydrates and adjusted the rest of the plan accordingly.
Along the way, that consistency helped me lose over 40 pounds. MealPlans.dev grew out of the process I used to plan and adjust my nutrition over time.
MealPlans.dev is free, requires no account, and is intentionally focused on planning rather than tracking.
I'd love to hear:
- How are you currently planning meals?
- Do you plan ahead or decide meal-by-meal?
- What's the most frustrating part of meal planning today?
Thanks for checking it out, and I'm happy to answer questions throughout the day. 🙌
Does it help you find your maintenance calories, or do you have to know that going in?
Finally, an app that lets me plan instead of just react after eating. Loved seeing the full nutrition breakdown before deciding what to make.
Love that it shows sodium and potassium alongside the usual macros. Most apps ignore those and then people wonder why they feel puffy or sluggish.
Does the plan adjust automatically when I swap a meal out, or do I have to re-enter the nutrition info myself to keep the daily totals accurate?
