Matterbase
AI material & furniture sourcing software for designer
AI Material sourcing and specification software for interior designers and architects. Design material boards, create spec sheets and build client presentations in one platform.
As a designer myself, I was incredibly frustrated by how many hours I wasted on manual, repetitive sourcing tasks. Between hunting down physical samples, piecing together flat JPEGs, and managing chaotic procurement spreadsheets, the actual design process felt completely fragmented.
I built Matterbase to bridge the gap between the moment of inspiration and the moment of transaction.
Here is what you can do with Matterbase:
1. MatterAI Sourcing: Ask our agent for exactly what you need (e.g., "high-traffic commercial seating in warm tones") and instantly get specifiable products.
2. High-Fidelity 3D Sampling: Inspect digital twins of physical materials with pixel-perfect accuracy.
3. Direct Procurement: Push your product selections directly into ready-to-go FF&E schedules.
We originally started this as a mood board generator, but quickly realized professionals don't want AI to design for them—they want AI to handle the tedious sourcing.
I’ll be hanging out in the comments all day and would love to hear your feedback!
would love to see a side-by-side comparison view for materials with cost, lead time, and sustainability scores in one spot. would make spec decisions so much faster for client presentations.
Pulled a sample board together with a few taps and the spec sheet auto-filled with the right manufacturer details, which honestly saved me a good 20 minutes. Curious how deep the material library goes for niche suppliers though.
the spec sheet builder is actually pretty solid, way less friction than pulling together PDFs and fabric swatches in google drive. curious how the ai sourcing handles custom or vintage pieces though, most tools i’ve tried choke on anything outside their catalog.
Finally something that gets how scattered material sourcing usually is. Built a quick board with three finishes and the auto-fill for spec details saved me a real chunk of time.
Would love to see a side-by-side cost comparison feature built into the material boards. As an interior designer, my clients always ask why one quartz is picked over another, and having a quick column showing price per square foot alongside the swatches would honestly save me so much time during presentations.
Finally, a tool that gets spec sheets out of my spreadsheets and into something presentable. The material board builder saved me a solid hour on a client pitch yesterday.
Would love to see a built-in sustainability scoring filter so I can quickly compare materials by LEED points or recycled content when building boards for clients.
Spending less time hunting for fabric specs and more time actually designing sounds like a win, the board builder feels intuitive right away.
Love the idea of sourcing and spec writing in one place, that workflow is painful right now. One thing that would make it a no brainer for me is a vendor side portal where reps can push updates to their products directly and flag discontinuations, so my boards dont quietly rot. Would save a ton of manual checking.
Would love to see a built-in price tracking feature for materials so I can see how costs shift over time across projects. Right now I end up exporting spec sheets to a separate spreadsheet just to log supplier quotes, and it would save a ton of time if that history lived right inside Matterbase alongside the material details.
