The idea started from a personal frustration. I love wine but I'm not a sommelier. I wanted something that could instantly tell me "this bottle is worth it" or "skip this one, try that instead" — like having a knowledgeable friend whispering in my ear.
Matteo is an AI sommelier that lives in your pocket. Point your camera at any wine label → instant analysis with score, tasting notes, food pairings. At a restaurant? Snap the menu → Matteo highlights the best picks for your taste and budget.
What makes it different from a simple wine rating app:
It learns YOUR palate over time (not generic scores)
It works on restaurant menus, not just bottles
It builds a virtual cellar and remembers what you loved
Voice input: just say "I had a great Côtes du Rhône last night" and it logs it
The approach evolved a lot during development. I initially tried generic recommendations, but quickly realized that wine is deeply personal — what scores 95/100 for a critic might taste terrible to you. So I built a palate profiling system that adapts to each user.
