I built MatchShot because I had boxes of old photos I wanted to recreate today. same angle, same framing and every app I tried made me do the hard part (alignment) *after* I already took the shot. By then it's too late; you're cropping and hoping.
MatchShot flips that: the reference photo lives as a ghost overlay on your live camera. You line up the shot before you press the shutter, so the new photo is already matched to the old one. No warping, no re-editing, no losing pixels.
A few things I'm proud of:
- AI Align is fully on-device (Apple's Vision framework - face landmarks + body pose + image registration). No servers, no generative AI, nothing leaves your phone.
- No accounts, ever. Every photo stays local.
- Free tier is actually usable, not a crippled demo. 3 Collections, full overlay camera, compare tools.
Built solo, would love your feedback, especially if you've got a "same shot, later" project of your own (pregnancy, fitness, kid growth, plants, beard journey, whatever). Happy to answer anything about the alignment tech or the roadmap.
- "How's this different from [app]?" → Most alignment happens post-capture (crop/warp after the fact). MatchShot aligns at capture time via a live overlay, so there's no re-editing step and no quality loss.
- "Is AI Align sending my photos anywhere?" → No, 100% on-device, Apple Vision framework only.
- "Android?" → Not yet, iOS only for now, watching demand here before considering it.
