Marco Polo Portal
Australia's first NDIS housemate-matching platform.
We built Marco Polo Portal because NDIS housing has always worked backwards. Providers fill vacancies from a list, and people with disability get placed wherever there's a room, rarely with any say over who they live with. Choice and control is a foundational principle of the NDIS, but in practice it often doesn't reach the one decision that shapes daily life the most: who's in the house with you.
So we flipped the model. Instead of starting with the property, we start with the person. Participants create a profile, find compatible housemates, form their own group, and then choose a provider on their terms, or skip the provider and move in together. Support coordinators can search and match clients for free, and providers get pre-matched groups instead of churning through re-advertising.
What changed most as we built it was our focus on compatibility over speed. It's easy to optimise for filling rooms fast. It's harder, and far more important, to optimise for genuine fit, because that's what makes a house an actual home.
We'd love your feedback. Who you live with matters more than where you live, and we're here to make that real.

Who hunted Marco Polo Portal?
Marco Polo Portal was hunted by Aaron Cotton. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
