Hey Product Hunt!
A while back, I got super frustrated while trying to add maps to a React Native app. Standard setups felt clunky, react-native-maps had weird platform bugs, and commercial options came with annoying pricing or heavy bloat.
I just wanted something fast, open-source, and actually nice to style with Tailwind.
So, I built mapcn-react-native
It’s an open-source map component library for React Native powered by MapLibre RN and NativeWind (heavily inspired by the mapcn / shadcn vibe).
What you get:
- MapLibre under the hood: Great performance and totally open-source (no vendor lock-in).
- NativeWind/Tailwind styling: Build and style custom map components and markers using classes you already know.
- Clean DX: Drop-in components ready to copy, tweak, and use in your Expo/RN stack.
