Last winter when I was commuting to work, I had all these ideas of funny comic strips in my head, but there was no tool at my disposal to make them real. So I made one.
Introducing the first version of makecomic.fun – an online tool that helps you put comic ideas into reality – fast. It’s free and no account is needed – just open in your browser and create your first comic in minutes.
It’s ideal for quick throwaway jokes to share with friends or on social media, but unlike other tools what comes out of it is always good-looking.
I spent great amount of time tweaking the balloon design, the tails, typography, layouts and the brush stroke so everything looks beautiful without too much effort on the creators’ side – yet it leaves lots of room for creativity and self-expression.
My vision for this product is to fill the space intersecting the meme and the comic markets – I believe the best memes use the comic form-factor already – even a single image with a speech balloon or a caption is in fact a comic. It’s time to upgrade the quality of memes with the hundreds years old craft of comic-making.
I hope makecomic.fun finds some hard-core users and fans so we can evolve this product together and to help create the tool for the next generation of memes.
