Maildun for Mac is an agentic email builder for macOS. Design by hand in the drag-and-drop editor, or connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok with your own API key: the assistant edits your design live, as a proposal you accept or reject. Turn on the built-in MCP server and Claude Code, Codex or Cursor can create and edit emails too. Plus workspaces per client, brand kits with shadcn-style component styles, saved sections, media on your own R2 or S3 bucket, and publishing to maildun.com.
Hi Product Hunt, Dunn here, maker of Maildun.
Maildun for Mac is an agentic email builder that runs natively on macOS. It's built with Tauri 2, React 19 and shadcn/ui, and uses the same UI kit, theme tokens, fonts and icons as Maildun, so it feels like home if you already use it.
The idea: design by hand when you want control, hand it to AI when you don't, and let your coding agents work on the same designs. What's inside:
- Drag-and-drop editor: blocks, sections, inspector, desktop and mobile preview.
- Design with AI: bring your own Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok key. The assistant edits through the editor's validated tools, and every change shows up live as a proposal you accept or reject.
- Design over MCP: turn on the built-in MCP server and Claude Code, Codex, Claude Desktop or Cursor can list, create and edit emails in your active workspace, with its brand and media. No Node.js needed.
- Workspaces: one per client or product, each with its own designs, brand and media storage.
- Brand: colors, fonts, a Markdown brand guide, and component styles that work like shadcn/ui for email (button style, shape and size, image corners, cards, dividers). New designs start on-brand, "Apply brand" restyles existing ones, and the assistant keeps to it.
- Saved sections: save your header, footer or any block once, then drop it into any design in the workspace.
- Media: upload to your own Cloudflare R2 or Amazon S3 bucket. Images are resized and converted to WebP on your Mac first.
- Publish to Maildun: share a design as a template on maildun.com, public or as a draft. Publishing again updates the same template, so the link keeps working.
I'd love your feedback, especially on the AI and MCP workflows. What would you want an agent to do with your emails?
What does the export look like: plain HTML I can send through any provider (I use Resend), or does sending go through maildun.com? And do dark-mode styles come out as their own block?
