Hello everyone, I’m excited to share this small app I created on ProductHunt.
I subscribe to a lot of RSS feeds but never have the time to read them. However, I often spend 1-2 hours commuting or doing housework, so I started thinking about how I could turn my RSS feeds into audio to make better use of that time.
During the product development process, I was really impressed by the podcast generation feature in NoteBookLM, so I decided to incorporate something similar. After several weeks of development, Maidio was born, and I’m happy with the results.
However, OpenAI’s TTS API turned out to be a bit pricey. Fortunately, by downloading the language packs in the settings, I was able to use Apple’s built-in TTS, which delivers a pretty good result. So, I added local TTS support to the app.

Congratulations on the launch! This seems very effective for scenarios when people don't have time to read text, like while showering, driving, or doing repetitive work. However, my concern is that I've previously used two similar products where the AI hosts would drift off topic from the original text, resulting in AI podcast content that poorly matched the source material.
