My name is Runbo. I’m one of the co-founders of magichour.ai
I started Magic Hour in December 2022 because I wanted to make an AI-generated music video.
I built a prototype in a Python notebook, and asked David, my family friend, to help me productize it.
Since then, we’ve expanded beyond music videos, and now Magic Hour is a place where you can:
1. Put yourself in any movie
2. Turn yourself into a superhero
3. Enter a YouTube url and get visuals for it
It’s still a humble app, but there are two learnings we’re excited about:
1. Users love watching AI-generated videos: We’ve received hundreds of millions of views posting NBA edits
2. AI enables new creators to exist: We’re two non-creators who built an audience with no skills, time, or money
In the next step of our journey, we plan on combining these insights into a consumption and creation experience that rivals TikTok.

I’ve always been interested in animation & videography myself but never could indulge in it and learn.
