Top comment

Hey Product Hunt! I’m Sal - maker of MacDetox.

This app will free up real storage (GBs in minutes) and bring your Mac back to speed. Forget the warnings and spinning cursor - just get your work done.

How it works: Free scan shows exactly what’s bloating your disk (Dev Tool leftovers, caches, logs, orphaned app junk, ect). One click to purge. No risky system files touched. Transparent preview before delete.

Why I built it: I’m a software engineer. My dev Mac kept choking during Intellij / XCode builds and Docker pulls. I wanted speed not a 40-feature toolbox.

Try the free scan and post your before/after GB.

Roadmap: menubar helper, smart schedules, team licenses.

Comment highlights

So I tried today and here is some feedback.

Did a dry run and it showed it could save me around 20GB, mostly from caches.

Decided to give it a shot anyway.

Couldn't find where to enter the discount code.

After payment I got this error page:

after cleaning it goes back to the main page of the app:

It would help if there was some kind of information of what was cleaned, how much was saved, etc

For what I can see it only saved like 10GB instead of the 23GB announced during the scan.

It lacks an uninstall button to remove the app.

Just curious if the cleanup is for permanent files that aren’t used anymore, or just cache that will rebuild after a few days.

Downloaded immediately!
Congrats on the launch!

Is is also available in the App Store

Installed the app, it scanned my mac, it showed me that upto 10 GB of space can be cleaned. But once i clicked on it, it asked me to subscribe :(
