macCurrent helps Mac users find outdated apps, track update history, and update with more confidence. It brings App Store, Homebrew, and direct-download apps into one clean view, with safety features like app backups before updates, recent activity, and clearer diagnostics when something needs manual attention. The beta is free while we keep improving coverage and polish
Hey Product Hunt, I’m Akbar, maker of macCurrent.
I built macCurrent after MacUpdater stopped active development. I wanted a clean, reliable way to see which Mac apps needed updates, but the reality of macOS software is messy: App Store apps, direct downloads, Homebrew casks and formulae, Sparkle feeds, Microsoft AutoUpdate, vendor-managed apps, and system apps all behave differently.
macCurrent scans your installed apps, classifies where they came from, checks update status across multiple sources, and supports scheduled scans so results stay fresh. For supported direct updates, it can also download and validate updates before install.
The catalog is still growing during beta. Privacy-conscious catalog lookups send bundle IDs only, and optional unknown-app reports help improve coverage over time.
I’d love feedback on missing apps, false positives, confusing statuses, and any update flows that feel clunky.
