Most Mac cleaners ask you to trust a number. MacCleaner scans read-only, shows every file and the size it actually takes on disk, and marks what is genuinely rebuildable — caches, Xcode DerivedData, node_modules, Docker, Homebrew, local AI models. Your own folders are never pre-selected. Cleanups are recoverable by default; permanent delete is a separate, deliberate choice. Signed and notarized, local-first, no ads and no tracking.

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I built MacCleaner because I didn't trust the category I was buying from. Every Mac cleaner I tried opened with a scary number — "47 problems found!" — and a big button. None of them would tell me which files, how big they really were, or why it was safe. On a machine where I keep client work and half-finished projects, "just trust me" isn't a feature. So MacCleaner works the other way round: • Read-only scan. Finding is completely separate from deleting. Nothing is touched while it looks. • Real byte counts. Sizes are measured on disk, APFS-clone aware, so they match what du and Finder report. Inflated numbers are the oldest trick in this category. • Safe vs review, stated plainly. Rebuildable things (app caches, Xcode DerivedData, node_modules, Docker images, Homebrew/pip caches, local Ollama and LM Studio models) are marked safe. Your Downloads, Documents and Desktop are never pre-selected. • Reversible by default. Cleanups land in a recoverable holding area first. Permanent delete exists, but you have to choose it. • Signed and notarized, local-first, no ads, no tracking, no account needed to scan. It has turned out to be most useful for developers. On my own Mac, DerivedData, node_modules, Docker and a few local models were the bulk of what I recovered. The free tier is unlimited scanning plus 500 MB of cleanup a day, which honestly covers most people. Pro removes the cap — $4.99/mo, or $29.99 once if you hate subscriptions. I do. brew install --cask 1erkinyagci/tap/maccleaner Two things I'd genuinely like feedback on: 1. Is the free cap (500 MB/day) fair, or annoying? 2. What's eating space on your Mac that I'm not detecting yet? I'm here all day — ask me anything, including the sceptical questions. Especially those.
