Lumen Tool is a free 3D portrait lighting simulator that runs entirely in your browser. Most alternatives are either expensive desktop software or outdated browser tools that cycle through pre-rendered photos. Lumen renders shadows in real time using Three.js, loads in under a second, and requires no install or account. It's a single HTML file under 1MB. Move a light, watch the shadows shift live. That's it.
Hey, I'm Franck - the person behind this tool. I built Lumen Tool because I kept wishing something like this existed before a shoot. Not another full studio simulation suite, just something quick and visual to figure out where the light goes before you commit to a setup.
It's been a side project for a while now, built in between other work. Happy with where it's at currently!
If you shoot or paint portraits or film talking-head stuff, I'd love to know what's missing for you. That's genuinely the most useful feedback I can get right now.
Cheers!
