Lumberjack
A simple commitment untangler to direct your effort.
Lumberjack is a commitment untangler designed to map out the messy reality of personal decisions. Unlike traditional tools that only let you schedule or check off a task, Lumberjack introduces dedicated spaces for different stages of thinking, because when you are tired there's more at play than just doing one thing after another. This launch is putting Lumberjack in your hands so you can see if it fits your the way of thinking. It’s free, private (on-device), and doesn’t require registration.
Most days, I couldn’t really move the needle where I wanted to. After handling all my responsibilities for the day, I’d be completely exhausted, sitting there trying to figure out what I could even do with my remaining time and energy. By the time I scrolled through my endless to-do lists or the calendar spaghetti of meetings and tasks, I had no mental space left to actually start, and the time just slipped away. On top of that, I kept asking myself whether all the things I had already done were really a good use of my time or mine in the first place.
One day, I realised the real problem was trying to answer too many questions at once when I was already tired.
At work, you just get a stream of things to do one after another, or your constraints keep you focused. In your spare time, things are more fluid and get tangled up. You have to pick what to do, remember random things to follow up on, sometimes plan the next day, and decide whether you actually want to do what your friend asked about yesterday.
Every other tool out there just mixes all of that together or doesn't question anything at all. You get flat lists, where managing them becomes a second admin job, or you need to do mental ninjutsu with planners that mix events and random reminders. Not to mention the complete lack of space for ideas you haven't even decided on yet. Good luck seeing where your time actually goes and making a dent in the overwhelming sea of commitments.
That’s why I built Lumberjack to be a commitment untangler rather than a standard productivity app.
Most apps start at execution, but Lumberjack makes space for the other stages of thinking, so your brain doesn't have to do it all at once. It splits ideas into one question at a time. Everything starts with an Inbox where you decide if something should even exist in your world at all, then moves to the Plan and Execution spaces. The basic flow ends with a Review, where you can spot patterns and identify what to adjust.
It also lets you filter items by your energy level and group tasks into projects and hobbies, so you can get back to the things you actually like doing but slipped under day-to-day pressure.
Even if you can't change much right now, it doesn't mean you can't start adjusting things over time. Lumberjack is built to give you space to start choosing instead of just reacting.
This is really helpful. As someone with ADHD I'm finding the ability to locate items matched to my energy levels and time available so useful.

Who hunted Lumberjack?
Lumberjack was hunted by Grzegorz. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
