I'm John, the founder of Lotus by Open Black Belt — and I'm excited to share what we've been building.
The idea came from watching martial arts school owners struggle with cobbled-together tools — one app for scheduling, another for payments, spreadsheets for leads, paper waivers in a filing cabinet. They're instructors, not operations managers. They shouldn't have to be.
So we built Lotus: one platform that handles everything from the moment a prospect walks in the door to the day they test for their black belt.
A few things I'm especially proud of:
The lead pipeline is a full Kanban board — New Inquiry → Contacted → Trial Scheduled → Trial Completed → Converted. When you drag a card to Converted, they automatically become an active member. No duplicate data entry.
Automated sequences send the right email at the right time without lifting a finger — a 3-step prospect drip for new leads, a re-engagement sequence for members who've gone quiet, and waiver reminders so you're never chasing signatures.
The member portal lets students book classes, check their attendance history, update their profile, and sign their waiver — all without touching the admin dashboard.
And the class roster lets instructors mark attendance directly from a live booking list, with capacity warnings so you never accidentally overbook a mat.
