Yes, we're calling it: After Effects for the web. Design vector animations from scratch in your browser, move faster with Motion Copilot AI, wire up interactivity with State Machines, and export production-ready Lottie + dotLottie. No desktop app. No dev handoff.
On behalf of the Creator team, we are beyond excited to finally share our latest milestone with you: Lottie Creator 2.0!
Over the last year of building Lottie Creator, the same problem kept surfacing: on the modern web, there is a clear gap between simple tools and tools that enable you to unleash your full creative potential. That's where Lottie Creator 2.0 comes in to bridge that gap!
We’ve done our best to put YOU in the driver’s seat, all while automating the boring stuff away.
Boss on your back and you need to quickly align an entire animated brand kit? Use the Motion Systems and standardize look and feel across multiple animations. Working on a one-of-a-kind masterpiece? Use the new Graph Editor to tweak every important frame to tell your story (and lets be real: every frame is important). Need to blaze through adding interactivity for your animations? Use a combo of State Machines and Copilot to perform the repetitive clicks, while your brain focuses on your next creative idea.
We hope you give Lottie Creator 2.0 a shot, and let us know about your experience. The team is actively sourcing feedback (the good, the bad, the ugly) for us to take the product to the next level, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
We’re so excited to see your animations out there in the wild!
Congratos on the launch! I've been using LottieFiles for years, and I've genuinely been waiting for something like Creator 2.0 for a long time. Motion Copilot is porbably the feature I'm most excited about, although I wasn't able to try it yet, Im currently getting "Motion Copilot is temporarily unavailable. Please try again in a few minutes." message.
anyway, really looking forward to putting it through its paces once it's back online! Supported! Upvoted ⬆︎
Finally a tool that makes handing off animations to devs painless. Loved how the live preview updates as I tweak the JSON, no more exporting and re-uploading.
I love it! Do you have or plan to have an MCP that could be connected to agents and be used from them?
Would love to see a built-in performance profiler that shows frame-by-frame render times and file size impact directly in the editor. It would save so much back-and-forth when optimizing animations for different platforms, especially mobile where every kilobyte matters.
the editor feels so clean and snappy, especially how you can drop a json file straight into the canvas and immediately tweak animations. honestly that alone saves me a ton of time compared to other tools
This could finally end the export-and-pray handoff between designers and developers, which is where most animation work seems to fall apart. Motion Systems for keeping animations consistent across a brand kit sounds like the quiet killer feature here. Can Motion Copilot work on an existing animation, say restyling something already built, or does it only help when starting from scratch?
Congrats on the launch! "no dev handoff" is doing a lot of quiet heavy lifting in that tagline. Anyone who's run an animation team knows how much time and how many review rounds get lost in the back-and-forth between motion and engineering before an animation is actually implemented. Baking State Machines and a direct export to production-ready Lottie, dotLottie into the same tool where you're already animating removes a real bottleneck, not just a nice-to-have.
And as someone who still animates hands-on - building vector animation from scratch in the browser, with real curve & easing control instead of a stripped-down "web version" of AE, is the part that actually matters day to day. Most browser tools fake the motion feel. This one holds up on timing and spacing, which is the actual win here.
Lottie has been the export format forever, but authoring always meant round-tripping through After Effects. Cutting that step out is a real unlock for teams without a motion designer. Does 2.0 handle expressions, or is it keyframes only for now?
Working in Customer Support gives me a front row seat to the feedback, ideas, and creativity of our users. It's incredibly rewarding to see those insights reflected in products like Lottie Creator. Congratulations to the entire team on the launch, I can't wait to continue helping creators make the most of it! 🚀💜
Motion Copilot empowers people like me to create and tweak animations easily.
But personally I would vote Motion Systems as the highlight feature. It sounds like a Figma library for motion. And the governance part is usually one of the pain points in team collaboration.
Huge release! As a dev who lacks the time to learn complex image processing software, the Motion Copilot has made it genuinely easier for me get the small little animations that I need in my workflow. Plus, the graph editor is quite neat for fine tuning the easing functions.
Congratulations to the Creator team on this exciting launch! So much time and effort has been put into this jam-packed release, and I cannot wait to see what the community builds!
my favorite part is how easy it is to iterate; Prompt, tweak, adjust, repeat. It's honestly wild seeing an idea turn into an animation in seconds.

Bringing motion design to the web without needing After Effects itself is a real accessibility unlock — most teams have someone who can tweak a Lottie file but nobody who can drive AE. Curious how much of the After Effects feature set actually translates to the web builder versus what's a deliberately simplified subset — full expressions/effects support is usually where these web-based tools hit a ceiling.
Honored to be a part of Creator engineering team. Creator has been an ongoing project that's been incredibly fun to work on, from the earlier versions up until today. It's so much more stable, intuitive and capable than ever before. I hope you enjoy using it as much as we've enjoyed building it.
From design assets to full-fledged motion creation, watching the evolution of LottieFiles' ecosystem continues to inspire. Lottie Creator 2.0 makes adding interactive motion so accessible without compromising on quality or workflow speed.
Kudos to the team on another epic launch! Wishing you all the success on PH today! 🙌✨
Motion Copilot has saved me so much time when experimenting with different animation options. The new version is even better because it can create animations from scratch, giving a solid starting point that I can refine instead of starting with a blank canvas.
State Machines are still one of my favourite features. Before Lottie Creator, building interactive animations felt pretty challenging. I'm really excited to see what people create with them—there are so many possibilities!
