Maker here. I got tired of AI notetakers that quietly upload meetings to someone else’s servers, so I built a private and free alternative.
LokalBot keeps a local work memory on your Mac: bot-free meeting capture (Me/Them via Core Audio), on-device transcripts and recaps, evidence-backed recall, dictation, and system-wide autocomplete, all local by default.
Privacy is the architecture, not a policy checkbox. Point Little Snitch at it during a meeting and you’ll mostly see localhost + the one-time model download.
Honest caveats: Apple Silicon + macOS 15 only, and first run downloads the models you pick.
GPLv3, signed .dmg, CLI/MCP for agents. Would love tough feedback, especially from people who can’t put client calls in the cloud.
