Logchef
Open-source log analytics for ClickHouse & VictoriaLogs
Logchef 2.0 turns the logs you already keep in ClickHouse or VictoriaLogs into a complete, self-hosted analytics workspace. Search with portable LogchefQL or native SQL/LogsQL, live-tail events, build mixed-source dashboards, create alerts, and investigate through the CLI, MCP server, or AI query assistant. It ships as one binary, works with your existing ingestion pipeline and schema, and includes OIDC, RBAC, teams, and scoped service tokens in the open-source build.
Hi Product Hunt, I’m Karan, the developer behind Logchef.
I started Logchef because I already had billions of logs in ClickHouse and wanted a focused, fast log explorer without moving that data into another stack. Over time it grew from a ClickHouse UI into a broader log analytics workspace.
v2 is the biggest release yet. VictoriaLogs is now a first-class datasource, and dashboards are entirely new. You can search both backends through LogchefQL, drop into native SQL or LogsQL, live-tail data, create alerts, and even mix ClickHouse and VictoriaLogs panels on one dashboard. There’s also a proper CLI and MCP server for agent-driven investigations.
The deployment model remains intentionally boring: one self-hosted binary in front of the storage and ingestion pipeline you already run. No new log store, no forced schema, and no paid SSO or RBAC gate.
I’d love feedback from people running real log infrastructure, especially on the existing-table setup and mixed-backend dashboards. The live demo is read-only, and the project is AGPLv3.
