I'm Robin, and I built LoadLog for a fairly unglamorous reason: from October 2026, every UK waste receiving site has to record its incoming loads digitally. Paper Waste Transfer Notes, the system that has been in place since the 1990s, are being replaced by DEFRA's Digital Waste Tracking Service under the Environment Act 2021. Miss the deadline and a single breach can mean a £1,000 fixed penalty, with no upper limit for repeat offences.
The problem is that most software aimed at this space is enterprise-level, expensive, and built for big operators. Plenty of transfer stations, recycling facilities and skip yards don't need any of that. They need a simple form they can fill in on a phone in the yard, a way to capture signatures on screen, and the confidence that the waste transfer note has actually been submitted to DEFRA.
LoadLog does exactly that. Record the load, capture digital signatures from the producer, carrier and receiver, and submit to DEFRA in one tap. It works offline (handy when the signal in a yard is patchy), checks carrier registrations against the Environment Agency's public register, and keeps a full audit trail with PDF records. There's a free plan, and Compliance Lite is free until the end of 2026 for anyone who signs up before October.
