I'm Nikolas, a product designer with 13 years of experience — and Lingrus is the third product I've built, but the first one that solves a problem I found myself.
Two years ago I took a course on launching micro-products and started hunting for a real problem worth solving. Digging through Reddit threads and talking to people learning Russian, one fear kept coming up again and again:
"I can read and understand some Russian, but I freeze when it's time to speak. I'm afraid of sounding stupid."
That hit me. Apps teach you to read, match words, and drill grammar — but almost nothing teaches you to actually talk. And speaking is the whole point.
So I built Lingrus: an AI conversation partner that lives in your browser. You speak out loud, it replies like a native speaker, and every phrase you say gets instant feedback — wrong case ending? You'll see the correction with a plain-English explanation. Slow the audio down to 0.8X if you need to catch every word.
From idea to launch took about 3 months. We're tiny — a handful of early learners and a 5.0 rating on Chrome Web Store — but the feedback so far has been heartwarming.
