LifeTicker is a countdown app for things you’re looking forward to, with widgets and countdowns you can share with friends.
I’ve spent the summer working on a new way to add events, and today I’m opening it up for testing.
Type or say something like “Coldplay concert next Friday at 8 in Berlin” and LifeTicker puts together an event suggestion. It can find a place, suggest a song and pick out tasks or notes from your sentence. If something is unclear, it can ask a follow-up question. You check the details before anything is saved.
The sentence is processed on your iPhone using Apple Intelligence. Looking up places and songs, or loading a link preview, uses the internet. You’ll need a compatible iPhone with Apple Intelligence. I’ve mainly tuned and tested it in English and German. It can understand other languages too, and I’d love to hear how well yours works.
One thing I learned along the way: the on-device model struggled with some details I’d expected it to handle. I ended up adding my own rules around it, including making sure “on Christmas Eve” is recognised as December 24. I’m curious to see which dates and phrases still trip it up.
There’s also optional beta feedback. If you turn it on, your sentences, suggestions (including discarded ones) and ratings are sent to me so I can understand what went wrong. You can turn it off or request deletion of the feedback you’ve sent in Settings. Please use made-up names and leave out sensitive details when testing with feedback enabled.
The beta is free through TestFlight. In the regular app, no features are behind a paywall either. You can keep up to 20 events at a time for free. Delete events to make room for new ones and keep using all the features for free. You only pay if you want to keep more than 20.
I’d really appreciate a few people trying it with the kinds of plans they’d normally add. What did it miss? Were the follow-up questions helpful or annoying? And how did it do in your language?
