What inspired me to build LifeGrid was the idea of making something as abstract as time feel more visual and personal. We often think about age in years, but seeing life represented in weeks creates a different perspective.
The problem I wanted to explore was that most life expectancy calculators simply give you a number. I wanted to create a more interactive experience where users could see their estimated lifespan visually and explore how different lifestyle scenarios might change the overall picture.
The process evolved quite a lot during development. Initially, the idea was much simpler—a basic lifespan calculator. But as I worked on it, I focused more on visualization, user experience, and responsible wording. I also wanted to make it clear that LifeGrid is an educational tool, not a medical prediction or a way to tell someone exactly how long they will live.
During the launch process, I gradually added the assessment, insights, life grid visualization, educational guides, and privacy/disclaimer pages. It has been a learning process, and I'm still improving the tool based on feedback and how people interact with it.
