I built LifeContext AI because I wanted an AI that truly knows me —
without sending my most private thoughts to someone else's server.
The problem: every AI companion (Replika-style) uploads your
conversations to the cloud. That felt wrong for something you confide
in daily. So I asked: can a genuinely personal AI run 100% on a phone?
Turns out, yes — but it was brutal. I spent months fighting:
- GPU crashes on Android (Vulkan kept dying on Adreno chips)
- 0.24 tokens/sec speeds that made chat unusable
- small models that "leaked" their own system prompt
The breakthrough was forcing CPU-only with KleidiAI optimizations,
which took responses from ~40s to ~15s, and rewriting the system
prompt so the model stopped repeating rules and started feeling human.
