Liang is a small macOS menu bar app that shows your AI coding agent's state on your screen, no more switching back to check. A soft glow around the notch, a glow following your cursor, and a menu bar icon show whether your agent (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, CodeBuddy) is thinking, waiting, or done. Hey everyone, maker here.
I built Liang for a small, personal reason: I'd start a task in my coding agent, switch away, then keep switching back to check "is it done? is it waiting for me?" I wanted a way to tell without breaking focus.
So Liang puts a soft glow on your screen — around the notch, following your cursor, and in the menu bar. It turns green when done, pulses while thinking, and turns amber when it's waiting for your approval. One glance, and you know.
It works with Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, and CodeBuddy through their official hooks. It never reads your code or prompts — just a few state fields, kept locally on your Mac. No account, no telemetry.
Two honest caveats: I haven't been able to verify Claude Code and Codex myself yet, so if you try them and something's off, please tell me. And for now it's Apple Silicon / macOS 14+ only.
