Let It Brew keeps your Mac awake while Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, GitHub Copilot CLI, or Pi works, then lets it sleep when tracked work stops. Free and open source, with closed-lid support, battery limits, and no account required.
Hey everyone, I’m Ruban, the maker of Let It Brew.
I’d tried Caffeine and Amphetamine, but wanted something built around my coding agents. I wanted to close my MacBook while they worked and have it sleep once they were done, without remembering to turn anything off.
So I built Let It Brew. It sits in your menu bar and follows local sessions from Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, GitHub Copilot CLI, and Pi. When several sessions are running, it keeps your Mac awake until none of the tracked sessions are working.
You can set a battery cutoff, restrict it to connected power, and let the display sleep while agents keep working. Closed-lid support requires approval of a local background service.
It’s free and open source, runs locally, and doesn’t require an account or collect app telemetry. It works on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 14 or later.
I’ve been using it for about a month now. If you regularly leave coding agents running, I’d love to hear how it works for you and which agent you’d like me to support next.
