My friends and I had this low-grade anxiety we couldn't pinpoint. It was the loop. Open an app, scroll, feel worse, repeat. At dinner, at work, in bed. I built Lerf to break it. Start a session, pick what to block, put your phone down. That's it. Easy Mode lets you end early with a press and hold. Strict Mode keeps apps blocked until the timer ends. No account. No streaks. No dashboards. Nothing to check. Free on iOS. Designed to be set down.

Grant here, solo builder of Lerf. About a year ago I started noticing this low-level anxiety for no obvious reason. A lot of my friends seemed to feel the same way. Then I checked my screen time: ~8 hours a day. I realized I wasn't intentionally opening apps anymore. I'd unlock my phone and somehow end up scrolling before I even thought about it. I tried a bunch of the existing blockers first. Opal, one sec, and a few others. I actually like them and think they're great products. They just weren't built the way I wanted. Most asked me to subscribe before I knew if they'd help. Some made me feel guilty. Others had dashboards and streaks that felt like another thing to check. So I built Lerf. The idea: The moment you catch yourself opening an app out of habit, start a session. The distracting apps disappear, and the loop breaks right then. No streaks. No productivity score. No account. Just something that helps you put your phone down and get back to real life. Built around relief, not guilt or shame. It's free right now. iOS only. If something about the app, the idea, or the positioning feels off, I'd genuinely appreciate your feedback. What's your daily screen time, and which app owns most of it?
