Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Haris, and I built Layer.
Our desktops are this huge surface we stare at all day and basically never use. Layer fills it with widgets — notes, a clock, weather, now playing, calendar, system stats, a file shelf, and a couple dozen more. They sit quietly behind your apps; tap a hotkey to summon and arrange them, tap again and everything goes click-through so it never gets in your way.
It's a solo project, and today it's live on the Microsoft Store (one click, Microsoft-verified, free). This release also adds a 🎧 audio device switcher widget — flip between headphones/speakers/mic in one click — and a clock that scales as you resize it.
I'd love your honest feedback, and especially: what's the one widget you'd actually use every day? I'm reading every comment today. 🙏

Who hunted Layer?
Layer was hunted by Haris Imran. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
