If you frequently use ChatGPT at home or at work, this is a must-have extension for you. There are lots of security risks that come when you insert private data in your prompts to ChatGPT.
As AI security is our biggest concern at Lakera, the main purpose of the extension is to protect users from exposing private data in their chats with ChatGPT.
The extension safeguards you from leaking the following categories of private data:
- Credit card numbers
- Anglophone names
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- US street addresses
- US social security numbers
- Secret keys (e.g.: API keys, SSH keys, etc.)
The product is already available and can be installed from https://chrome.google.com/websto.... Just press “Add to Chrome”, pin the extension and it will warn you when needed. Install it within seconds and protect your conversations with ChatGPT.
If your use cases trigger a lot any of the listed categories you can turn them off from the extension menu (click on the extension icon for that).
What an awesome product and built at a time when it is so needed. So many people are flooding ChatGPT with personal info right. We honestly need some kind of PSA to the world to install this chrome extension!

I really liked the fact that someone is addressing the pressing need of AI security and privacy concerns for the end users of ChatGPT.
If I may offer a suggestion, one feature that could further improve the UX is the ability to receive periodic security reports or alerts summarizing the number of potential data leaks prevented. This would not only showcase your extension's effectiveness but also give users a tangible sense of the value it brings to their online interactions.
