Hi Product Hunt — I'm the solo maker behind take-lab (Onomanabi and WaseiGo launched here earlier this year). Kotowaza Karuta is for Japanese proverbs, idioms, four-character phrases (yojijukugo) and classical sayings — the expressions Japanese kids drill at school, and the ones that trip up even advanced learners, because the literal words rarely tell you the meaning. Karuta is a traditional Japanese card game: a reading card is called out and you grab the matching picture card. I turned that into a learning loop: - 2,000 entries: 563 proverbs, 625 idioms, 626 four-character phrases, 186 classical sayings - Three quiz formats that pair cards, phrases and meanings - Watercolor-style card illustrations (a growing set; other entries use text cards) - Eight goal-based courses, including one for Japanese learners and one for beginners - Furigana on every kanji, so kids and learners can read everything - Mastery levels, accuracy, streaks, category and course progress, weak-word review - Japanese and English UI, no ads on any plan 400 entries are free without creating an account. Premium is a one-time purchase (no subscription) that unlocks all 2,000: ¥1,980 / $14.99 on Web, and the store shows your local price on Android. You can buy and restore without an account; an optional free account syncs progress between Web and Android. I'd love feedback from Japanese learners, teachers and parents: which expression is hardest for you to remember, and does a picture help it stick? Thanks for taking a look — I'll be here throughout the launch day.
