I run a small web agency in Austria and kept seeing the same problem: shop owners get fined for missing legal texts they didn't even know they needed. Austrian and German e-commerce law requires a surprisingly long list; imprint details, privacy policy covering every third-party service you use, cookie consent, accessibility statement, and more. Most people only find out something's missing when they get a warning letter.
Existing tools either focus on cookies only (Cookiebot, Usercentrics) or generate legal texts without checking what's actually on your site. Nobody was scanning the full picture; especially not for Austrian law, which has its own quirks compared to Germany.
So I built Konformia: paste your shop URL, get a report of what's there and what's missing. No signup, no legal advice; just a clear checklist. It started as a simple regex matcher but evolved into a multi-page crawler that reads your actual legal documents and checks whether they cover the services it detects on your site (like Google Analytics, payment providers, or newsletter tools).
The hardest part was accuracy; saying "missing" when something is actually there destroys trust. So every check runs deterministic pattern matching first and only falls back to AI when the text is ambiguous. I'd rather show "couldn't determine" than a false alarm.
