Know Your Runway
Cash-flow forecasting for households, not businesses
Most budgeting apps tell you where your money went. KYR tells you where it's going. Enter income, expenses and balances and see your household's cash flow projected month by month — so you can test a career break, a move or parental leave before committing.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm solo developer in Perth, Western Australia.
I built Know Your Runway because every budgeting app I tried was pointed the wrong way.
They were excellent at telling me where last month's money went, and completely silent on
the only question I actually had: what happens if we do this? Can we take the trip? Can
one of us drop to four days a week? How long would we be okay if the income stopped?
Those aren't spending questions, they're forecasting questions — and forecasting is
something business software does and household software mostly doesn't.
So KYR runs the other direction. You put in your income, expenses and balances, and it
projects your cash flow forward month by month, out to 40 years. Your runway is simply how
many months you're covered for. Then you stack scenarios on top — a pay rise and a new
expense at the same time — and see the combined effect instead of guessing at it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Built for households, not businesses. Two incomes, shared expenses, decisions made by
two people.
- One account covers web and iPhone — same login, nothing extra to buy. No Android yet.
- Nine display currencies. Bank feeds are Australia-only for now; everywhere else is
manual entry or CSV import.
- Free for 30 days, no card up front. After that it's US$9.99/month or US$89/year, and the
first 100 annual sign-ups get US$30 off that, forever.
What I'd most like from you: does the runway number make sense the first time you see it?
It's the number the whole app hangs off, and I'm far too close to it to tell whether it
lands on its own or needs explaining.
Honest caveat — I'm one person and this is early. If something's broken I'd much rather
hear it here than not hear it.
