The problem we kept running into: academic networking platforms are either general-purpose (LinkedIn, ResearchGate) or built around documents, not people. None of them actually answer "who should I be working with right now?"
So we built Know Your Faculty around one core idea — match professors by real research fit, not job titles or mutual connections. You build a profile, sync your ORCID for verified publication data, and see a live Collab Score for every professor you view — a percentage match based on shared research interests and what you're both looking for (co-author, grant partner, guest lecturer). A connection only opens once it's mutual, so nobody's inbox fills up with outreach they didn't ask for.
Along the way we also built two free, standalone tools we kept needing ourselves — no signup required for either:
H-Index Calculator — paste your citation counts, get your h-index and i10-index instantly
Journal Rankings — search all 2,649 journals in the ABDC Journal Quality List 2025, with SJR/Scopus quartile data
