This is the new 6-inch Kindle for 2026. It is smaller and lighter, opens books 30% faster, and finally gets a flush-front screen. There is also a 32GB aluminum version for the first time.
Amazon refreshed the Paperwhite and Colorsoft at the same time, with thinner bodies, updated displays, and more aluminum options across the lineup.
And page-turn buttons are back... sort of. There is now a Bluetooth Kindle Click, plus a Page-Turn Cover with physical buttons for the Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition.
The basic Kindle still has no warm light or waterproofing.
no warm light on the base model in 2026 is a strange corner to still be cutting, that's such a cheap component relative to everything else they upgraded. the separate Bluetooth Click accessory is a clever workaround for page-turn buttons though, since it doesn't force everyone to pay for the Signature Edition cover just to get a physical button back. still holding onto my Voyage too, the haptic zones were genuinely better than anything since.
