Kiki for Mac

The accountability monster that keeps you focused on a task

Productivity
Task Management
Time Tracking

look, we both know how this goes. you sit down to work. you check one thing. then it's been 40 minutes and you're watching a guy restore a rusty knife on youtube. 〰〰 kiki lives on your mac and helps you actually finish the things you start. choose your focus. pick your apps. hit start. kiki works alongside you, typing away in the corner. 〰〰 get distracted and kiki has opinions. flips your lights. sets things on fire. focus and you might just finish that project you've been avoiding.

Very cool! I deal with this by closing unnecessary apps and turning off my phone. But from time to time I still unconsciously open Facebook or YouTube, which I don’t need… You have a great idea, I like it!

As someone who is also guilty of re-organizing my Notion on a weekly basis... Kiki has been a gamechanger. Kudos to @blankensmith and team for creating something that's both indispensable and fun.

This is so cool, love the kiki vibe! 🐙 I’m someone who always wants to stay on top of things, but I sometimes get caught up in the busywork of prepping to get into the flow instead of actually doing. And my work expands to fill whatever time I give it. With kiki and the timer focus, I think I'd be able to use the parkinson's law to my advantage.

I am curious about how does it manage browser distractions? I need YouTube for research sometimes, but it’s way too easy to end up on a random video. Curious to see how it tackles that!

Huge congrats on the launch!!!! I was just talking about wanting to use YouTube purely as a learning tool while blocking everything else, and this works incredibly well. Being able to whitelist specific channels and cut out the rest made it so much easier to focus.

I've tried a lot of things, most of them involving deleting apps from my phone. Adding blockers on my websites didn't work very well for me because there are websites like Youtube and Linkedin that I do need to use sometimes but if I open to use it for 5 minutes I get sidetracked by their excellent algorithms and find myself watching the 100th rug cleaning video after 2 hours.

For now I use a chrome extention called News Feed Eradicator. This does a good job. Removes the feed, so anything I wanna do there is intentional.

Problem is on Youtube if I open a short related to something I needed to know, I end up going down that spiral.

Excited to see how Kiki helps with that.

Congrats on the launch! I really like the shift from blocking to intention, especially treating productive procrastination as the real enemy. The escalation mechanics sound both funny and slightly terrifying in a good way. How customizable is Kiki’s tolerance and punishment system, can users tune how quickly it escalates or what kinds of off-task behavior trigger it?

This is a much needed antidote for easily distracted people! Loving the Kiki mascot and how it makes focus time feel FUN instead of sterile. Really appreciating the new mental model focusing on a single small goal at a time. I'm someone who has tried every tomato themed pomodoro timer under the sun and STILL I find a way to spend the entire time block doing something else. Hoping this little dude in the corner of my screen will help me change how I think about focus work, a little bit at a time!

OMG this is amazing! I love the idea of Kiki typing away and roasting me when I get distracted. Does it integrate with Pomodoro timers for even deeper focus sessions?

incredible product because its incredibly simple but it WORKS. everyone working on a computer struggles with some degree of distraction.. its the nature of digital work; so much of our life is in one place. Kiki removes the noise and makes your computer a place of actual productivity.. when you want it to be! brilliant.

Congrats on the launch!! Love the design and can't wait to use it to be more productive :D

Congrats! Does this only block apps or also websites?

For example, blocking my email/linkedin on Google Chrome but can still access other websites?

I'm a designer and this has been incredible for long work sessions. Usually I start designing and drift into Slack, inspiration boards.. Kiki just says nope, you picked Figma, stay in Figma!

I've been testing Kiki for a few months and she's become my little companion buddy when I do hard, annoying, work that makes me easily distracted. Especially for writing and thinking tasks, Kiki helps me avoid seemingly "productive" work that's really just busy-work keeping me from doing important things.
