I built KeyKing because I was sick of two things:
1. Hitting "429 Too Many Requests" right in the middle of a flow state.
2. The constant anxiety of accidentally pushing .env files with my plaintext API keys to GitHub.
We are in the era of vibe coding, but the infrastructure sucks. You shouldn't have to whip out a credit card just to use Cursor or Claude Code without being
aggressively rate-limited.
So I built a loophole. 👑
KeyKing is an open-source Desktop Vault and local proxy ( localhost:8787 ). You load it up with all your free-tier API keys (Groq, Gemini, Mistral, etc.). When you
send a request, KeyKing orchestrates it. If one key hits a rate limit, our internal Priority Ladder instantly trips the circuit breaker and routes the request to
your next available free-tier provider. Your app never crashes.
The best part? You can point Anthropic's Claude Code CLI or Cursor straight at the KeyKing proxy. You get premium, unlimited vibe-coding for exactly $0 by draining
the free quotas of other models.
Oh, and everything is encrypted locally with AES-256-GCM. No cloud storage. No leaked keys.
