I use AI tools daily to summarize research papers, parse long documentation, and review lecture notes. But I grew incredibly frustrated with the current market. It felt like every single document assistant forced you into a rigid $10–$20/month subscription model just to read a few files, hitting you with aggressive paywalls the moment you uploaded a fourth document.
I wanted a minimalist, distraction-free tool that didn't treat my wallet like an open tap. So this past weekend, I teamed up with an autonomous AI software engineer (Devin) to build exactly what I needed.

Bring Your Own Key (BYOK): Instead of paying a massive monthly markup to a middleman, you securely plug in your own OpenAI or Gemini API key. You pay fractions of a cent directly to the AI provider for the exact data you consume.
Radical Privacy: The number one issue with "vibe-coded" AI wrappers is data trust. KeyDrop AI saves your API keys strictly to your browser's local storage (localStorage). They never hit a backend server, and your files are parsed client-side. Your data stays yours.
