I live in Kampala, and I watched it happen over and over. Authors, university lecturers, and creators around me would try to sell e-books or course notes online, sign up for Gumroad or Shopify, and then hit a wall. None of it supported mobile money. Over 65% of adults in Uganda pay with MTN or Airtel mobile money, not cards. So people with genuinely good content had no way to actually get paid by their own audience. That's what pushed me to build this. Not a theoretical market gap, a problem I saw happen to people I know.
Global creator commerce platforms are built around card rails and account based checkout. Neither fits East Africa well. Buyers here mostly don't want to create an account just to buy a PDF, and they pay with mobile money, not Visa. I wanted creators to keep their own storefront and their own audience, with checkout that actually matches how people pay here: Pesapal, guest checkout, phone numbers validated per currency, real mobile money support end to end.
I built this solo, using OpenCode as my coding agent throughout the process, pairing with it on the Next.js and Supabase architecture, the Pesapal integration, and the test suite. I leaned on it heavily for iteration speed, writing and refining the 609 tests across 27 suites, working through the Row Level Security policies table by table, and getting the three way payment verification against Pesapal's API right, since that's the part that actually protects real money moving through the system. It let me move fast without cutting corners on the security side, which mattered a lot given this handles real payments for real creators.
The result is live: 29 creators onboarded, real storefronts, real payments processing. Happy to answer anything about the build or the market in the comments.
