Hi everyone! We are Joy and Eunice, and we are super excited to launch Kawara to the world. We are building a personalized search engine for your video files. Our first use case is allowing video creators to build the perfect b-roll library.
Why we built this:
Joy is a Youtube creator (@joyfullencounters) who has been posting on Youtube every week since January 2023. She has over 1TB of footage across sd cards, phone and cloud storage system. She can’t be bothered to organize, and spends so much of my time searching for the footage she needs.
What Kawara does:
- Lets you upload up to 25 video files at a time
- Automatically tags your clips for you
- Slice longer videos into shorter clips
- Allows you search for clips you need using text
- Download the videos that you need
Currently, we work best with non-speaking, non-moving videos under 64MB each. Your clips are only available for you to view.
How to use Kawara:
- Upload your video files
- Get coffee while we do the tagging
- Search for the files you need using words
How we are different:
Kawara automatically tags your file, but it also slices your larger video files into shorter clips. We have tried different file organizing apps, but they don’t allow you to search for specific moments within a video. If you have a 2 minute video of yourself walking in a market and you want only a specific shot of matcha, this allows you to pull that exact matcha shot.

I’ve also been wanting to make more content but have tons and tons of footage, and end up getting demotivated having to go through every clip one by one. This would literally help save me so much headache!

for personal videos too. Google photos search isn’t that great for videos.
