I started working on KardsAI in May 2023. Since I am traveling regularly through Spain, I always run into the problem of having to know topic-specific vocabulary. For example, last year my car broke down with a flat tire, and I needed to refresh my knowledge on everything to know to explain the issue to a native. As a developer looking for a project in the AI space, I built KardsAI.
KardsAI is an iOS and Android app that lets you generate flashcards on any topic via prompts, from uploaded PDFs, or by pasting in any text. Therefore, it's now not only solving problems like mine for lifelong learners and travelers but also for students or anyone that wants to start studying quickly.
By transforming any text or document into flashcards instantly, it skips the hours of study preparation before you can start. The learning algorithm used is a spaced repetition algorithm, which has been proven to be the best for memory retention and learning success.
I extended the features since the soft launch in January based on the initial feedback and added the option to add images to flashcards, to share your created decks easily with friends and family, and to sort multiple decks into collections.
As you can see, I am constantly adding new features with the goal to make it one of the leading AI-first tools to help anyone that is curious in life and is eager to learn. Looks cool!! Good job! I don’t use this method a lot, but I remember my sister using it while studying Chinese! And here is my question: I suppose you’re using OpenAI assistant or another LLM on the market (if not, correct me 😁), did the AI ever suffer of hallucinations of some sort even if the user provided the file? In my mind this could be a problem if happen because the user is changing the source of truth from the PDF passed in input to you flashcard! Anyway awesome idea!
