Your terminal. Your team. Zero context switching. Kairos brings real-time collaboration straight to your terminal. Create rooms, chat, share files, and monitor system resources all without juggling heavyweight GUI apps. Built with Bun, TypeScript, WebSockets, and Prisma, Kairos is on a mission to make developer workflows lighter, faster, and terminal-native. Less switching. Less overhead. More building.

Top comment

I started building Kairos because I kept noticing how much of a developer's workflow happens outside the place where they actually write code. Chat apps, file sharing, system monitoring, and other tools mean more windows, more context switching, and more resources consumed in the background. That feels especially unnecessary when you're working on a low-end laptop. So I wanted to explore a different approach: what if collaboration lived directly in the terminal? Kairos started as a room-based CLI chat app and grew into real-time messaging, file sharing, and system monitoring. It's still evolving, and I want to keep pushing the idea of making the terminal a place where developers can do more with less. Would love to hear what you'd want a terminal-native collaboration tool to support next.

Who hunted Kairos?

Kairos was hunted by Yash Gupta. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
