Before this I built Facebook's first public health product, which reached over 30 million blood donors in its first year. What stuck with me is that products only work when they fit how people already behave.
Joy came from something personal. I had lost over 100 pounds and was still exhausted by food. Not the cooking. The constant deciding. What to eat, is it healthy, do I have time, did I already make this on Tuesday. That invisible load never ends.
So we started backwards. Instead of building an app first, we ran a real personal chef service, cooking in people's kitchens and watching how food decisions actually happen inside a household. Over 100,000 servings later, we turned what we learned into Joy.
