Journeyman is a daily guessing game built on career history. Every day you get one mystery player per league: NBA, NFL, MLB. His career is revealed one stint at a time. The team, the years, the number he wore, his stats for that stretch. Each jersey looks like it did that season. Solve it in as few reveals as you can. Most daily sports games hand you the whole career at once. Journeyman makes you watch it unfold. Free, no signup, about a minute a day. All three in one day is a Triple Play.
Hey👋
I built Journeyman because I kept losing at Poeltl and Immaculate Grid
for the wrong reason. I knew the player, I just couldn't get there from
a list of attributes. What I actually remember about guys is where they
went. The trade nobody expected. The two-year stop on a bad team. The
weird late-career jersey.
So Journeyman reveals a career the way you'd actually recall it: one
team at a time, in order, with the jersey he wore that season and his
numbers for those years. You guess as early as you can. Two reveals is
a good day.
The hard part wasn't the game, it was the data. Jersey numbers by
season are only reliable in public NFL data from 1996 onward. The NBA's
API returns a single number per player, so a guy who changed numbers
mid-career comes back flat and everything has to be reconstructed from
other sources. And every uniform is drawn from scratch rather than
pulled from official assets, which meant a lot of nights checking
collar treatments and striping against reference photos. I've already
had corrections from the uniform-history crowd and I'll take more.
Three puzzles daily, one per league. Free, no signup, no account
required. All three in one day is a Triple Play.
Two things I'd like feedback on:
1. Does the first jersey give it away too fast for star players?
2. Should the stats on each card be fuller, or does that make it
trivially searchable?
Playing along with whoever shows up today. Ask me anything.

Who hunted Journeyman?
Journeyman was hunted by Timmy Van Cauwenberge. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
