Jolt replaces endless feeds with one shared conversation every day. Everyone sees the same question and has 20 seconds to answer, creating a shared moment with strangers. No accounts, profiles, followers, algorithms, edits, deletes, or pasting. Responses stay chronological and permanent, so the conversation unfolds naturally for everyone. The goal is simple: less pressure, more honest conversation.

Hey Product Hunt! I built Jolt because I’ve become increasingly frustrated with what social media has turned into. Over the last 10 years, I’ve tried growing my own accounts and products across different niches. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. But regardless of the outcome, the process often felt exhausting and strangely… not very social. It became increasingly tactical: figure out the algorithm, find the right format, post at the right time, optimize for engagement, build an audience, and hope the platform decides to show your work to people. But even when I wasn't trying to grow something, I found social media surprisingly difficult to use for its original purpose: being social. I’ve tried using different platforms to make friends, join communities, and have conversations. Too often, posts get removed, conversations get buried, and navigating moderation and community politics becomes part of the experience. There are so many invisible rules about what you can say and how you should say it that it can be difficult to have a conversation that feels both safe and genuinely honest. People end up carefully polishing what they say. They worry about how they'll be perceived. They build personas. They optimize for engagement. Somewhere along the way, I felt like we lost the actual social part. So I wanted to try something different. I wanted to create a social experience that was fun, authentic, interesting, and genuinely shared — and see whether people would actually enjoy coming back to it every day. That’s Jolt. Every day, there’s one new question and everyone gets 20 seconds to answer. Everyone sees the same chronological conversation unfold together. It’s almost like having a new forum every day, where everyone is in the same room. No profiles. No followers. No algorithm deciding what you see. No editing, deleting, or pasting. Just a question, a moment, and whatever you honestly want to say. The idea is simple: come back tomorrow, get a new question, and see what everyone has to say. I'm excited to finally put Jolt out there and see if this is something people actually enjoy doing every day. If everyone on Jolt could answer one question today, what would you ask?

Who hunted Jolt?

Jolt was hunted by Drew Gallagher. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
