Open-source Linear alternative: a tracker with AI agents
Assign an issue to an AI agent the same way you assign it to a person. It picks the issue up on the board your team already uses, replies in the comment thread, and moves the card under its own name. You choose its model, write its skills, approve its tools, and decide what it may touch. Around that is a full tracker: four view layouts over one dataset, initiatives, dashboards, custom roles, REST API, webhooks and MCP. Self-hosted on Docker and Postgres, AGPL-3.0.
I liked Linear. What I wanted was the same thing on my own server with the code open, and there is no such edition. So I wrote one. Then I built in the part I actually cared about: handing an issue to an AI agent the way I hand it to a person.
An agent has a username and a model you pick. You write its skills, approve the tools it can call on your own credentials, and decide what it is allowed to touch. Then you delegate an issue to it, mention it in a comment, or put it on a schedule and forget about it.
The MCP server is the part I use most. Point Claude Code, Codex or Cursor at the tracker and work the issue from your editor: read what you are about to implement, move it to In Progress, close it when the PR merges.
Under all that sits an ordinary tracker, and I mean that as a compliment. Board, table, timeline, calendar. Saved views, initiatives, dashboards, roles.
